Many teen girls take several months to prepare for the prom. Buying prom dress takes most of the preparation time. Your prom look won’t be perfect if you do not have a pair of stylish yet comfortable shoes. The following are some advice on how to choose prom shoes that accent your gown and highlight your accessories.

Shoe styles to choose

Basically, there are four kinds of shoe styles for prom: stilettos, wedges, flats and strappy sandals. If you want to steal spotlight, the sexy stilettos are great choice. However, wear them only if you are experienced with the high heels, as they are the most challenging ones. Wedges are fabulous alternatives to stilettos, they offer heights while are perfect for girls who do not wear high heels often. But wedges may be less formal than the stilettos. Flats are the most comfortable option for prom. They are an ideal option if your date and you are similar in height or if you have no experience wearing heels. Strappy sandals are the most popular shoes for special occasions, as they showcase elegance and femininity. Opt for shoes with a cushion lining if you want more support.

Think about the dress styles

If you are wearing a maxi style prom gown, you may pair it with peep toe heels. They can help your legs look longer. For a short style prom gown, choose closed heels to appear more elegant. Mid-lengthprom dresses would usually give an illusion of a shorter body, thus, you need high heeled shoes to visually lengthen your legs. If you have chosen a glamorous prom gown with lots of detail or flashy fabric, it's good to keep the shoes basic. On the other hand, if your dress is fairly simple, a beautiful pair of eye-catching or unique shoes can make a real statement.

Shoe colors to choose

Choose shoes in a color which will compliment your dress. This doesn’t automatically mean you need to find shoes in the same shade as your dress. You might make a bold fashion statement by wearing shoes in contrast colors. If you really want to find shoes that have similar color with your dress, but you can’t find shoes in exactly the color you want. You can dye your shoes at home.
